 Terms and Conditions

1. The Financial Services Authority (FSA).
The FSA is the independent watchdog that regulates financial services. It requires us to give you this document. Use this information to decide if our services are right for you.

2. Whose products do we offer?
We offer products from a range of insurers for general insurance products. We can only offer products from a limited number of insurers for motor/household/commercial/travel. Please ask us for a list of insurers we offer insurance from.

3. Which service will we provide you with?
We will advice and make recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs for general insurance products. You will not receive advice or recommendation from us for general insurance products. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

4. What will you have to pay us for our services?

No fee for new business. Please refer to Section 9 overleaf regarding charges for administration costs. You will receive a quotation which will tell you about any other fees relating to any particular insurance policy.

5. Who regulates us?
Eastside Insurance Services are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. You can check this on the FSA's Register by visiting the FSA's web site www.fsa.gov.uk/register or by contacting the FSA on 0845 606 1234.

6. What to do if you have a complaint.
If you wish to register a complaint, please contact us:
in writing to: 130 Port Tennant Road, Swansea SA1 8JQ
by phone on: 01792 641611
If you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

7. Completion of Proposal Forms.
The proposal form supplied has been completed in response to answer given whilst at out trading office, over the phone or completed by yourself. Your attention is particularly drawn to the importance of the Declaration and Signature on the Insurers proposal forms. Any failure to disclose facts material to the insurance or any inaccuracies in your answers could invalidate the cover, as could any fraudulent or exaggerated claim. Please do consult us if you are in doubt on any aspect of the proposal form.

8. Changes to the original proposal after acceptance.
It is the responsibility of the client to advise us of any changes to the original policy after it has been accepted. You should be aware that it is your responsibility to advise the Insurers of any changes in your circumstances during the currency of the policy.

9. Charges
In addition to premiums charged by the insurer we may, at our discretion, make the following charges to cover administration costs for these specified activities:
Mid term adjustments £10.00
Mid term cancellations £25.00
Renewals £10.00
Replacement/loss certificates £5.00
Credit arrangements £various but agreed with you when cover issued.
Credit card £1.5%
Debit card £0.40
Legal Expense Insurance £15.00

10. Claims.
The responsibility for the notification of a claim lies with the insured person and full details of the requirements can be found in the policy conditions. Notification should be made verbally or in writing and should give the following information: name/address/policy number, details of property lost or damaged, value of the property, date/place the event occurred, how the loss happened. This information can be given to ourselves or direct to the insurer. As a firm Eastside Insurance do not carry out assessment in relation to any claims, this is the responsibility of the product provider concerned.

11. Motor Insurance Database.
Please note that Insures exchange information with each other through various databases to help check the information provided and to also prevent fraudulent claims. The information is also available to the police to help detect people who break the law by not taking out insurance and allows Insurers to pursue claims following accidents.

12. Renewals.
Renewal premiums are calculated on the basis of information last supplied by you. It is therefore YOUR DUTY to notify any changes in circumstances that may affect the basis on which renewal is invited (i.e. change of occupation, change of vehicle in use, motoring convictions and claims that may have occurred on other policies not held through our office). Please do consult us if you are in doubt on any aspect.

13. Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit.

14. Legal Expense Insurance.
We do offer a Legal Expense Insurance which is optional and is charged as shown in Section 9 above.
